                Programs

Since 1966 PVW has provided a wide range of quality services to meet the diverse needs of  adults who have developmentally disabilities.

Five distinct programs of service are offered, including the Adult Development Center (ADC),  Round About Senior Services (RASS), Work Program (WAP), Support Employment Services (SES) and our newest program, Anthesis Autism Services (AAS).   Each program is geared to meet the individual needs of the participants who attend.

Adult Development Center

This exciting and creative adult day care program offers participants a mixture of opportunities to gain new skills and enhance existing skills.   Daily activities may include paid work opportunities with money earned available to augment community integration experiences.  Outings include a wide variety of community access and inclusion activities. The ADC also volunteers the use of its adapted wheelchair van for use in transporting individuals in the community.  With an impressive staff-to-participant ratio, program participants receive the highly individualized attention they need in order to reach their potential.

The Adult Development Center is enhanced by the services of two Teachers from Pomona Unified School District. This unique service enables participants to readily transfer valuable functional skills learned in a classroom setting to every day life.

Round About Senior Services

This unique and innovative program offers Senior Citizens (age 50 and up) with developmental disa-bilities the opportunity to join in community activities with their non-disabled peers who are also geared for retirement. The emphasis in this program in on the development of independence and maintenance of physical, social and intellectual skills which tend to be lost in the aging process.  A wide range of activities are offered by loving, skilled staff both in the community and at the center. Activities might include paid work opportunities, exercize classes, arts and crafts, visiting museums and senior centers and fun filled picnics in the park. Seniors play an active role in planning the activities offered through this creative program.

Work Program

Since 1966, vocational training has been the focus of PVW's Work Program. This pro-gram provides par-ticipants with extensive partici-pation in paid work through a wide variety of    in-house contracts. Valuable skills learned through this program might include assembly, packaging, machinery and equipment operation and others.  In addition to the actual work skills, other valuable skills are learned that include work rules and attitudes, safety, self-advocacy and much more.  Workers earn a paycheck and receive vacation and sick time.

Supported Employment Service

Through PVW's Supported Employment Services pro-gram, community-based paid work opportunities are offered to adults with developmental disabilities with on-going support in the form of a professional Job Coach and follow-up services.

Program services include job exploration and development, placement assistance, employer education and on-going support which happens both on and off the job, ensuring maximum success for all participants.

  Anthesis Autism Services

Our newest and most innovative program provides services to those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).  This program opened its doors at a new site location in July 2007, and is the only program to serve those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Eastern Los Angeles County.  This program serves adults, and has a special focus on youth transitioning from high school into adult life, offering the supports necessary for a full and meaningful life.
